• 2019.08 Best Poster Award of CUHK SURP received by Lijin

2019.08 Lijin Feng, an undergraduate student from University College London doing Summer Undergraduate Research Program (SURP) with Professor Shao, has received the Best Poster Award of CUHK SURP 2019, for the poster "Smart-phone-based colorimetric sensing with plasmonic nanostructures: An experimental study". Congratulations, Lijin!

  • 2015.11 World's fastest nanorotor at 2.5 M rpm

We reported to use light scattering to rotate a motor made of gold nanorods to very high speeds. The devices, which rotate at up to 42 kHz (the fastest ever recorded for any man-made or natural motor in aqueous solution), might find use in a variety of advanced nano-optomechanical sensing and actuation applications.
This work is featured by nanotechweb.org: "Light speeds up nanorod motors".
